Just thought that I would put some pictures up. A few weeks ago I took Ryann's camera out on to the course to take some snapshots of the terrain and the course its self, these were taken on my Mothers Day ride. The reason for this is because a co-worker of mine (who is doing Ironman Florida) has some friends and family coming up to do Coeur d'Alene from Florida. Now Florida is not know for being "hilly" so I wanted to give them an idea of what to expect.
After awhile they do start to look alike
It is a beautiful course though...

Also, because we had such a long and hard winter (record snow fall year) we really have had no Spring for training and quite honestly I anticipate having no Summer if things keep going at this rate. Today our forecast calls for a high of 55 degrees, with snow expected above 4,000 feet (btw part of the IM bike course comes close to that height- I have heard). Yes folks that's right its June and our high is in my book Freezing! The lake in which 2,000+ of my closest friends will be swimming in in just 16 days is today a whopping 52 degrees! Ouch!
This is the beach were we started last year. The only difference is that this year there is NO beach.

Here is another view of the "beach"

Under the water there are about 10 huge cement steps where people sun bath on or sit on. The water in this picture shows how the water level is about 8-10' higher than normal.

Here are the steps leading down to the beach...again under water.
All these factors considered, I am still doing the race, I am very apprehensive about my time, and I'm pretty sure that I am a big baby about the conditions, but I am a warm weather gal! My goal this year will simply be to survive Ironman Coeur d' Alene 2008. I wish everyone out of the water safe and warm. Good luck to all.
