As the two of you readers may know, Cody has been away for sometime now to prepare for his deployment to Iraq. We have had very little communication with Cody during this time. So last night I was asking Mike if he had heard from Cody and we were "discussing" the fact that we hope that he was doing fine (we know/knew that he was, he's a tough kid), if he was getting along alright, getting well trained, yadda yadda yadda. Well 2 hours later, Mike and I received quite a surprise. In walked Cody and Kayela! I immediately asked Mike if he knew and his response was "No".
Boys will be boys (Father and Son have no problems having a good time when around each other).

Cody has been doing well he told us. Getting lots of plans for the future out there for us to soak in, etc. He informed us that he is no longer in the Calvary Scout Unit (thank goodness), now he is in a pure infantry unit (oh great, panic sets back in). Kayela looks great and is busy with school and wedding plans (their formal wedding ceremony will be next year). She is handling Cody and his choice of careers very well. I am in awe of her strength.

We were quite happy to see them both, even if for just a short visit. In 9 days Cody will be off to Kuwait and eventually Iraq. As always keep him (and Kayela) in your thoughts and prayers for a safe return home.

Cody and Kayela couldn't be any cuter, could they? I'm so glad that Cody got to come home for a little bit. Wish we could have seen him.
wow...I remember the day he was born and the first time I held him....it doesn't seem possible that he is a grown up now!
Thanks for sharing the pics...
That's really a great surprise. Being a troop is tough too, so I'm sure it was just as sweet for him. On another note, that was a pretty amusing skit with Palin and Biden.
You are now on my prayer list. Thinking of your family.
